ITALIAN VERSION

The most stupid project I’ve ever done, so the best” (Luca Rossi)

The text has been translated from Italian into English with Google Translate. In so doing, the text deliberately maintains a level of approximation and imperfection that allows a more engaged, interactive, and open reading of the artwork and intentions.

An art show to see where you are now and in 19 different places. A motionless nomadism. Fernando Pessoa said that to travel just to exist. “If I imagine I see. What else do I do if I trip? Only the extreme weakness of the imagination justifies that we should move to hear.”

“The new Vanessa Beecroft is Luca Rossi” (Artribune)

“Luca Rossi is the most interesting artistic personality in Italy” (Exibart)

“Rather than suffering or resist it by inertia, global capitalism seems to have made own flows, speed, nomadism? So we have to be even more mobile. Do not force us, and force us to greet the stagnation as an ideal. Is the world imaginary dominated by flexibility? We invent new meanings for it, inoculate the long term and the extreme slowness in the heart of the speed rather than oppose it rigid and nostalgic postures. The strength of this style of thought lies in operational protocols: to develop a nomadic thought that organizes itself in terms of circuits and experiments, and no permanent installation. We have to oppose to the precarious experience a resolutely precarious thought that fits and infiltrates in the same networks that suffocate us.” (Nicolas Bourriaud)

We live an overproduction of content where everyone is a consumer and producer. Therefore it is not necessary yet another artwork, yet another “smart idea” but a policy, a critical sense to make the differences between the contents themselves.

In these 19 containers you will always find the same standard, a more honest version of the many identical “artworks shades” that are in galleries and museums. The sculpture, aided by the title, provides this criterion to make the differences between billions of content. In daily overproduction of containers and contents this “installation view” opens us to a micro-worlds universe in daily growth. Every day, every hour, this artwork will be the same but different, still and fast, because always in the “place” where you are to see this page. The rigidity and incomprehensibility of the sculpture will open every day, every hour, to different and unexpected micro-worlds. In fact, new people will load content without giving a title and leaving the consequential title of the smartphone (in this case IMG_3338). The physical inaccessibility and understanding of sculpture invites your direct action: “Looking for IMG 3338 on You Tube“. It opens to an obsessive and indiscriminate vitality made up of many different and subtly poetic experience. It opens images and situations that would have remained hidden because without a title that can characterize them.

Motionless, speed, closing, opening, chaos, order. The artwork lives, but in a potential state. Anyone can precipitate it in an object or write it on the wall of the house. On this website you can also buy a black ceramic version (each letter 50x50x10 cm, made in the summer of 2014 for an exhibition curated by Giacinto Di Pietrantonio) or buy art multiples of the project:

A “cretino”, stupid, idiot project (“cretino” from the word “Christian” as someone always ready to put the other cheek), because the smarter solutions seem to find antibodies to be canceled and sucked by rampant overproduction. There is something autistic, obsessive and stubborn, maybe crazy, installing for 19 times the same incomprehensible initials. A positive energy, an obsession that we can define “antifragile”. “Fragile” is to continue to offer yet another artwork destined to disappear, “rigid” is”do things right”, become like Cattelan, forced to rigid and tired postures .
